About Me
Capturing images of family, friends and nature was a hobby of mine for many of the early years of my life. What once was a hobby has grown into a passion. I was always that friend or family member who had a camera at the various gatherings and events, but the birth of my son was really the impetus for taking the next step into “serious photography.” It is a lifelong pursuit to capture the captivating moments of life and all its beauty. But it is a wonderful experience moving beyond simply holding a camera and counting “1, 2, 3.”
Just before our first Halloween as a new family, I mentioned to my wife that I was interested in getting a “nice camera” to take pictures of our little boy and the family. She said “that’s fine, but you have to get one today because I want some cute costume pictures.” With that, like any red-blooded male who had been given authorization to purchase shiny new toys, I rushed out of the house with the speed of a cheetah! I am quite sure she didn’t know what she was getting into.
For those who are interested, I am a Canon shooter. I prefer to use natural light whenever possible but I also utilize other lighting techniques (umbrellas, soft boxes, etc.) as well. But in all of my efforts, I take great care in my pursuit of capturing life’s precious moments.
I enjoy landscape photography as well as sports photography and portraiture. I am an avid outdoorsman and I backpack as often as I can get out there. And yes, I haul my gear around with me on almost every trip. As I am sure you can imagine, when you have a 30+ pound pack on your back, it is not the most enjoyable experience carrying an extra 8-10 pounds of camera equipment up a mountain. But when the weather cooperates, the end-results are well worth the fatigue.
Thank you for visiting my site and taking a look at my work. I hope that my images will evoke emotion and bring enjoyment to all who spend some time looking at the world through my lenses.
